What is the purpose of the center bearing?
Center bearing supports carry the load of the drive shaft while allowing axial and radial deflection during start-up and braking. They offer the perfect isolation of structure-borne noise and vibration by damping resonance frequency and shaft tumbling.
What happens if the center bearing damage?
If the center support bearing completely fails, the driveshaft may flex to the extent that it comes in contact with the underside of the vehicle, causing damage and turning a simple part replacement into extensive downtime and repairs.
